No fillers required!
Over the past year, the beauty industry has decided that thin, perfectly beautiful lips were no longer in style, and it was all about poutier, fuller lips. Look at Kylie Jenner, her lips are to die for! Naturally, people (including myself) began to follow her steps into achieving that fuller look. Unfortunately, lip fillers can get very expensive, and permanent (most injectable fillers last up to a year). And if you’re just trying to experience what it’s like to have plump lips for a day, then needles are not it, especially if you don’t want to wait for them to heal! But don’t worry – there are plenty of plumping lip glosses that give your lips the volume boosts they so desperately crave. Luckily, the beauty industry has been working on creating very effective formulas and techniques in the lip department. So, let’s get into how to get those dream lips!
It sounds obvious, but the first thing you want to do is make sure your lips are hydrated before applying anything else. Think of it as a base coat. You don’t want flakey, dry lips, right? Simply apply a lip balm to boost the results of the products you’re going to apply next! One of my favorite lip balms is BIO KISS from Biologique Recherche due to its conditioning properties. Now, grab your foundation or concealer and lightly tap some of that color onto your lips to make the canvas you’re going to work with appear bigger. Grab your highlighter and apply some to your cupid’s bow to instantly make your pout look bigger, thanks to that trick of the light reflection. We’re getting to the fun part… Lip liner! Pick a color that’s one to two times darker than your skin color to make the finished lip look more realistic and richer. You can choose whether you want to overline them a little bit – I love doing that! Finish the look off by applying a tinted or clear lip plumper.
